LAN Installation
Minimum Network Requirements:
In a Local Area Network environment, ISIS will utilize any
network operating system that supports file and record
locking, including Windows 2000 Server, Windows NT Server,
and Novell NetWare. A Fileserver is required for storing
shared data, shared configuration files and record locking
information. The application itself will be installed on the
fileserver.
Fileserver must have a minimum of 100 MB of available Hard
Drive Space.
ISIS reads a user’s login name from a Microsoft 2000 or NT
Server. If other Network Operating Systems are used, the
user may be required to enter their name when launching
ISIS.
Recommended Network Server Requirements:
Pentium III 600 mhz or higher
Windows 2000 Server, Service Pack 2
256 MB RAM or higher
Tape Backup drive running Veritas Backup Exec
100 MBPS Ethernet Switched Network |

WAN Installation
Limited WAN connectivity can be added simply by providing
pcAnywhere access to a networked workstation. You would need
one workstation for each simultaneously connected WAN user.
Windows 2000 Server includes administrative use of Terminal
Services, which would provide the same functionality as
pcAnywhere, except that it runs on the Fileserver itself.
You are limited to two simultaneous connections and the user
is executing the application directly on the fileserver
itself.
For a production WAN environment with many simultaneous
users, ISIS supports Windows Terminal Server running with or
without Citrix MetaFrame.
Citrix MetaFrame improves the performance and flexibility of
Microsoft Terminal Services. It includes the ability to
Web-enable applications so that end users can
connect via a Web Browser to run their applications.
A WAN environment assumes one or more types of connectivity,
typically DSL or T1 internet access for the server. The
server can also support direct modem dial-in connections for
users without internet access.
On the client side, you would need either direct or dialup
access to the internet, or in the case of a direct dialup
connection, you would simply need a modem and phone line.
Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix MetaFrame demand a
high end server. For a network that will support 25
simultaneous connections, you will need a Pentium 1.0 Ghz
server with two processors and at least 500 MB of RAM. |
